about

“Idolized” is the rock-ballad about love-deification, divining the person, considering worshiped person as unreachable and the lust of the lover to come nearer to his beloved. Here especially the key point is being in the average on the perception between realism and romanticism.

Idolized is the first love-song of Orkhan Efendi and the most successful work of his, that appraised by the public with much more attention.

The construction of the song is followed by the ballad piano chords and through rocky supplements subsequently, where later on bluesy elements join to this interaction as such.

The topic of the tune is highly influenced by sufism, in principal through Rumi’s ghazals. The story is based on an idea of idolizing a girl with whom the narrator has fallen in love too deep and imagining her belonging to the far distance also out of actual life, while still conceiving that she is in the reality. And that is the concept in the background: The lover in one side puts the girl to the divine level and accepted the beloved as inaccessible, however on the other hand perceiving that it is just the love which obscured his mind and she is just a simple girl in the real life for others like the rest of women.

“Don’t tell me please that, I will not ever see your beautiful eyes. Watching you in the real life has become just a dream, because it is out of reach. Now you belong to very distant place” – states that the author is not willing to search for his sweetheart in the facts of existence, while she is somewhere in the sky, one cannot reach her, she is untouchable and turned to be imperceptible. In a true sense, it is just a psychological state of mind, where one is in love with a girl but she is not inclined to make a respond with a mutual affection. And in this case, the beloved is still a simple girl for others, while for the lover it becomes something divine, impossible to meet, even to encounter, who merely exists in a dream, in the sky being out of perception.

In the beginning the author’s statement on beautiful eyes as well as not being able to see them intensifies the description of the eagerness of the man in love with more emotional sensitivity and the desire. He wants to look into her eyes, as long, as deep that one will get lost inside of them in the level of being drowned in that look. Furthermore, he also wishes not waking up after sinking inside of her eyes, the comprehension on self-sacrifice and getting lost in the mind of the girl, which are true elements for sufism and divine-love feelings. My dreams let me dive into your eyes, sink in the depth of them and not wake up”.

The divined girl, however, has some difficulties, those are indeed harsh to overcome and directly related with the periodic pains, explained actually later on in “Nightmare of the Belle”. Therefore, the storyteller is willing and even eager to tolerate the hurtful troubles in order to first of all feel himself in her place and suffer together with his divine at the same time. Meanwhile, he is also complaining on the cold behavior by her and craving for the old friendly days preceded from the today’s situation.

Another strong thought by the lover is that he wishes now to embrace love, beauty and tenderness of the beloved on one hand and troubles, pains and sufferings on the other at the same time, for submerging her in his arms to protect his deified sweetheart.

At the end, despite all of these longings and love sickness, wishing to see her and complaining that she is now in the distance as well as inaccessible, the lover has reached to that level of being willing to keep the love in his heart as idolized one rather than wishing to come nearer her in the real life. He is now in the goddy stage of the love, where the lover wants to retain the girl as idolized, because of keeping away the possibility of turning the feelings from the deified to simplified one. That means, when we cannot approach our love and let us stay in the far, then she becomes something outstanding and phenomenal. Otherwise, she and our feelings become just ordinary day-to-day relations staying at the elementary state, nothing inspirational. Here the lover wishes himself to stay stimulated to live and create for his beloved, for which man should crave and desire about someone.

Therefore it is said: “Freeze me with your coldness, wrap me with your ice. Don’t let me soul get dried”

Another inspirational feature of this divined beloved is that she is acting like a phantom through being always temporary. She is coming and going, showing the beauty, looking to his adorer with bewitching eyes then disappearing. And that is exactly like the waves on the shore. They are approaching to the coast, watering it, making it wet so the coastline does not get dry but then immediately going away. So that circulates again and again. The same relation between coastline and the sea emerges here between the lover and the beloved.

“Idolized” is the one of the most sincere music works by Orkhan Efendi, which is composed by almost one-take. It is therefore catchy, because in the song the emotions of divine love, longing and strong lovelorn are explicit. “Idolized” has put on the record in June, 2014. Lyrics and music are written by Orkhan Efendi.

“It was that simple, where I have just taken my guitar and sung from the heart out. If only all songs of mine would be created in that way, through placing the feelings fully out of control and let them do their own job.”

lyrics

You’re keeping silence
That breaks me into parts
My mind is torn up
by lots of doubts

Don’t start to fade away, stay,
Don’t make any sad surprise
Don’t tell me, please that
I will not ever see your beautiful eyes

Watching you in the real life
has become
just a dream
coz it’s out of reach
Now you belong to very distant place
I’m looking for both your love
and trouble to embrace

I wish I could keep you satisfied
I wish I could make a sense
Could shine in your life
My dreams let me dive into your eyes,
sink in the depth of them
and not wake up

My pain is just vain comparing with yours
So I’m ready to tolerate also the most painful force
I’m thirsty for those every tender moment and sweet attitude
Coz your current coldness makes me be destroyed

every time be idolized for me
don’t let my feelings get simplified
Freeze me with your coldness
wrap me with your ice
don’t let my soul get dried

It’s like waves on the shore
coz they also come and go
